News Notes will be along tomorrow evening; there was quite a lot of territory to cover this time, plus I got a late start on the writing today.  In the meantime, watch some hockey!  Above are highlights of Saturday’s game between Avangard Omsk and Dinamo Minsk, and it was a good one.  Goals from Ivan Fishchenko and Alexander Perezhogin had Avangard ahead 2-0 after 40 minutes, before the hosts roared back in the third frame.  Matt Ellison recorded a hat-trick plus an assist, team captain Alexei Kalyuzhny added a goal and two helpers of his own, and Dinamo took it by a final score of 4-2.

The result made it three wins out of four games for the Minsk boys, and took them to the very edge of the playoff picture in the West Conference.  That’s a nice turnaround after a bit of a stuttering start to the 2015-16 campaign.
